We had been using Kpn for parcel booking for many years now. Of late the way of handling the parcel and customers are awful. We were to get 5 boxes in lr no: 200001683, they delivered 3 boxes and were dodging us for more than a week for giving the remaining boxes. On top of it the foul language of the Kpn employees to customers is awful and unbearable!! It is unfortunate that we customers had been supporting such an organization.
I travelled in a berth bus from Chennai to Palani on 22 May 08. Departure time 9.30pm but the bus arrives around 9.45pm. Before reaching Ulundurpet, a/c failed, as the bus is a/c, the upper berth has no window so no possibility of getting fresh air. After waiting for service guy for about 2 hours the guy came but could not fix. Then reached their office at Ulundurpet. Another try was done still could not fix the a/c. Another hour wasted, then came Trichy. Passengers who got down claimed the refund for failure of a/c service. Another one hour wasted in Trichy, but still the a/c was down. When the bus reached Palani it was 1pm next day. Only 3 persons including me were given refund of rs 100/ that too late in the evening. Whoever got down at Palani bus stand (6 or more) did not bother to claim refund. Kpn do not have any refund policy for poor/failed service. Risk yourself to reach destination on time, when you travel in Kpn.
I have had the opportunity of travelling in Kpn buses, both ac and non ac buses from Chennai to different parts in Tamilnadu and Kerala. Now I suggest you readers of this comment to rethink before you decide to book another ticket in Kpn. If you think the buses of Kpn are of better standards think again. You have been fooled using the photographs of few brand new buses stuck on their offices. These photographs might have been taken, when they inducted these buses into their fleet may be few years ago. Now the services are pathetic !! Moreover, you end up paying a lot more than what you will be paying to other travels if you chose Kpn.
To worsen things, they have rogues employed in their offices who have no sense of responsibility and decency towards their customers. They misuse the passenger luggage space at the bottom of the bus for carrying commercial cargo and force the passengers to carry their heavy luggage inside the cabin. So you will be forced to keep your luggage on the passageway and the old people will have to jump over these bags if they want to get out or get in. When we questioned the behaviour of the rogues, they threatened the passengers and challenged them to do what they could. Carrying of commercial parcel inside the passenger vehicle is illegal under transport department rules. You should notice that in the time of terror attacks and terrorism, these parcels are not at all checked and are dumped inside the passenger vehicles just for pure commercial gains. This pause huge security threat to the passengers. so beware.. and question this to Kpn authorities as they are answerable to you as you are their customers.
Recently, I travelled on 7th of November 2008 to Munnar from Chennai through Kpn bus. Our family boarded the semi sleeper bus at 9.15 pm in the night. They had instructed in the ticket that the passengers should be in bus station before half an hour of boarding time, we were there long before but the bus arrived late. The condition of the bus was very poor. The bus stopped near chengulpet, sayng ``tyre puncture``.our time was wasted for another one and half hours and the bus was delayed. Usually the push back seat is offered a foot rest and in all seats, it didnot operate and no passenger in the bus was comfortable . Similarly we had a return ticket from Udumalaipet to Chennai on 10.11.2008 monday night 7.45 pm , anyhow all the passengers will go to sleep by 10.45 or 11pm only; so they could have entertained the passengers with a movie for the first two and half hours, but atlast there was a shelf(in which the clothes of driver and cleaner was kept) in the place of tv and they switched of the light also early without allowing the passengers even to read magazines. Same foot rest problem continued in the return journey also. They stopped in palani for nearly one hour, for no reason known to the passengers.
I hereby suggest the Kpn Travels to improve their service,(the goodwill and rapport they had earned in years would be in vain in no time). So they can do something to maintain their vehicles, give more comfortable seats, make arrangements for toilet for women(atleast in some specl buses)as it is not safe for women to get out of the bus in midnight and early mornings. See that the bus runs in time without delay have small lamps fixed in each seat, so the passenger can enjoy their reading privately without disturbing others. Hoping to have a nice comfortable travel with relishing experience next time.
